Pork Scratchings...
I was out with the lads for a pint on Thurdsday (OK, maybe 2 pints) and I was introduced to something that I have never seen before. A culinary delight named "pork scratchings". Just like a pharmacy has "behind-the-counter" drugs, pork scratchings are definitely a "behind-the-counter" snack. What is a pork scratching? It is, as far as I can tell, deep-fried lard. The smaller bits taste like crispy bacon fat. The bigger bits have that crisp coating with the lard in the middle. They don't even display them at the bar... the bartender had to go to a special room upstairs to get a bag everytime we ordered one. I still can't believe I ate 3 bags :) Take care... Mark

I find them hideous! But Aaron loves them.. and I've been known to have to import a bag or two from time to time! :)
